Come join us Friday, April 14, 2017, for our Good Friday Paper Chase!!
Entry fee is $35 per rider (cash or check only, please).
Riders will be leaving out of Lot No. 1 this year, which is located directly across from Entrance No. 2 on the North side of Rt. 273. We are operating out of Lot No. 1 because Fair Hill is hosting a Recognized Starter Trial in Saw Mill Field and our regular parking and routes out of our barn will be unavailable to us.
Please remember your Coggins and red ribbons in the tails of any known kickers
Attire is casual and any type of riding gear is acceptable - English, Western, Australian, Endurance, we're not particular.
While we cannot require participants to wear helmets, we strongly encourage their use.
Slowpokes ride from 10am to Noon
Daredevils ride from Noon to 2pm - no riders will be sent out after 2pm
Slowpoke pace is more laid back and relaxed and is usually a mix of walk, trot and canter.
Daredevill pace is faster, usually a mix of walk, trot, canter and gallop.
Please remember that the goal of a Paper Chase is to have your ride time come closest to the unknown ideal time. It's best to ride neither too fast, nor too slow, but appropriate for the footing and trail conditions. We calculate the ideal time as the average of all times of the riders in each group, so there are separate ideal times for Slowpokes and Daredevils.
Our Spring Paper Chases are usually around 5 to 6 miles. Even with the mild winger we have had, horses may not be conditioned for a longer ride, so we'll save that for Black Friday. There will be no jumps on this trail.
Rain date is Saturday, April 15, 2017.
